Human papillomavirus is a DNA virus from the papillomavirus family, of which over 150 types are known. More than 40 types are transmitted through sexual contact and infect the anus and genitals. HPV is typically spread by sustained direct skin-to-skin contact with vaginal and anal sex being the most common methods. Protein E6 is a transcriptional transactivator and binds double-stranded DNA . It has transforming activity and binds and targets human MUPP1/MPDZ protein to degradation. Those two functions presumably contribute to transforming activity. E6 also interact with human FBLN1 protein also seems to be linked to cell transformation.
