SETD7

Setd7 is a histone lysine methyltransferase that contains a catalytic domain SET domain that methylates histone H3K4 with methionine as a substrate. Methylation of histone H3K4 is thought to be involved in transcriptional activation. Dimethylated H3K4 is a common epigenetic marker in the euchromatin region, while trimethylated H3K4 is involved in gene activation and transcription. Therefore, the histone lysine methyltransferase Setd7 has a certain activation effect on gene transcription. The function of Setd7 has two main aspects. First, it works by methylating other proteins, such as Setd7, which can methylate p53 K369 to regulate the acetylation of p53. Second, Setd7 activates transcription by increasing the H3K4 level of histones in the promoter region of the gene.
