Ubiquitin
Free (unchored) ubiquitin plays a distinct role in activation of protein kises and in siglling. Covalently bound ubiquitin has multiple functions. Depending on the specific protein that is ubiquitited, ubiquitin may be involved in processes like D repair, cell cycle regulation, endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation or kise modification.
