CLEC4E

Enables glycolipid binding activity and pattern recognition receptor activity. Involved in antifungal innate immune response and positive regulation of cytokine production. Acts upstream of or within Fc-gamma receptor signaling pathway; T cell differentiation involved in immune response; and defense response to bacterium. Is active in phagocytic vesicle membrane and plasma membrane. Orthologous to human CLEC4E (C-type lectin domain family 4 member E). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Nov 2021]
Predicted location

Intracellular, Membrane (different isoforms)

Single cell type specificity

Cell type enhanced (Kupffer cells, Macrophages, monocytes, Glandular and luminal cells)

Immune cell specificity

Group enriched (neutrophil, classical monocyte)

Cell line specificity

Group enriched (NB-4, RPTEC TERT1)

Interaction

Monomer and homodimer (PubMed:18509109). Interacts with signaling adapter Fc receptor gamma chain/FCER1G to form a functional complex; the interaction is direct (By similarity). Alternatively, acts as a bridge for interaction between CLEC4D and FCER1G. A heterodimer of CLEC4E and CLEC4D associates with FCER1G to form a functional complex (By similarity). Interacts with SAP130 nuclear protein that is released from necrotic cells; the interaction is direct (By similarity).
