FZD5

Members of the 'frizzled' gene family encode 7-transmembrane domain proteins that are receptors for Wnt signaling proteins. The FZD5 protein is believed to be the receptor for the Wnt5A ligand. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Protein class

G-protein coupled receptors

Predicted location

Membrane

Single cell type specificity

Cell type enhanced (Distal enterocytes, Hepatocytes, Undifferentiated cells, Muller glia cells, Intestinal goblet cells)

Immune cell specificity

Not detected in immune cells

Cell line specificity

Cell line enhanced (BEWO, CACO-2, Hep G2, NTERA-2)

Interaction

Binding of unsaturated fatty acid molecules (via FZ domain) promotes homodimerization (PubMed:28377511). Interacts with WNT2B (PubMed:12490564). Interacts with WNT7A (PubMed:18230341, PubMed:20530549). Interacts with GOPC (By similarity).

Molecular function

Developmental protein, G-protein coupled receptor, Receptor, Transducer
