GBP1

Guanylate binding protein expression is induced by interferon. Guanylate binding proteins are characterized by their ability to specifically bind guanine nucleotides (GMP, GDP, and GTP) and are distinguished from the GTP-binding proteins by the presence of 2 binding motifs rather than 3. Single cell type specificity

Cell type enhanced (Basal prostatic cells)

Immune cell specificity

Low immune cell specificity

Cell line specificity

Cell line enhanced (BJ hTERT+ SV40 Large T+, BJ hTERT+ SV40 Large T+ RasG12V, GAMG)

Interaction

Homodimer; homodimerization occurs upon GTP-binding and is required for the second hydrolysis step from GDP to GMP. Heterodimer with other family members, including GBP2, GBP3, GBP4 and GBP5. Dimerization regulates subcellular location to membranous structures (PubMed:21151871). Interacts with SQSTM1 (By similarity).

Molecular function

Hydrolase
