Kitl

KIT is encoded by the KIT gene and is a receptor protein secreted by oocytes. KITL(kit ligand), a ligand of kit protein encoded by Mgf gene, is an important regulator of oocyte genesis and follicular development. The study found that KIT/KITL is involved not only in the production of mouse and rat embryonic gonadal progenitor cells, oogonium and oocyte, but also in the follicular development process, including the growth of eggs, the differentiation of follicular membrane cells, the prevention of apoptosis of precaval follicles and the regulation of cytoplasmic maturation of oocytes. KIT/KITL is also involved in human spermatogenesis and oocyte development.
