LGMN

This gene encodes a cysteine protease that has a strict specificity for hydrolysis of asparaginyl bonds. This enzyme may be involved in the processing of bacterial peptides and endogenous proteins for MHC class II presentation in the lysosomal/endosomal systems.
Protein class

Cancer-related genes, Enzymes, Metabolic proteins

Predicted location

Intracellular

Single cell type specificity

Cell type enhanced (Hofbauer cells, Syncytiotrophoblasts, Macrophages)

Immune cell specificity

Immune cell enriched (plasmacytoid DC)

Cell line specificity

Cell line enhanced (RPMI-8226, U-266/70)

Interaction

Homodimer before autocatalytic removal of the propeptide (By similarity). Monomer after autocatalytic processing. May interact with integrins.

Molecular function

Hydrolase, Protease, Thiol protease
