PRTFDC1

Phosphoribosyltransferase domain containing protein 1 (PRTFDC1) is present in the human genome. A recent study identified this homologue as a gene potentially involved in the development of ovarian cancer. In a genome-wide screening for differently methylated promoter islands, PRTFDC1 is transcribed in ovarian cancer cell lines with unmethylated DNA but not in cancer cell lines with methylated DNA. A similar study demonstrated that restoring PRTFDC1 in oral squamous cell carcinomas cells lacking its expression inhibited cell growth.
