The anti-C2 eliminating antibody is an engineered pH-sensitive antibody against human C2. C2 functions in the classical complement pathway, linked to some autoimmune diseases. The antibody has a novel C2-sweeping activity in vivo, which selectively eliminatesthe soluble C2 from plasma. Compared to conventional antibody, the mAb exerted in vivo efficacy by simultaneously engineering both pH-dependent antigen binding, to mimic the pH-dependent receptor-ligand binding of such endocytic receptors, and increased FcRn binding affinity at neutral pH, to mimic the cell-bound form of the receptors.
