Rabbit Anti-CASP6 Recombinant Antibody (clone R04-8C2) (CAT#: VS3-XY3289)

This antibody is a recombinant rabbit antibody targeting the CASP6 (Caspase 6), which acts as a regulator of liver damage by promoting hepatocyte apoptosis. It reacts with human, mouse and rat CASP6. It has been reported for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin, Immunoprecipitation, Flow cytometry, Immunocytochemistry or Immunofluorescence. The recommended dilutions of Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin, Immunoprecipitation, Flow cytometry, Immunocytochemistry or Immunofluorescence is 1/500-1/1000, 1/50-1/100, 1/20, 1/50-1/100 and 1/50-1/200, respectively.

Target

  • Alternative Names
  • MCH2; CSP-6; caspase-6
  • Long Name
  • Caspase 6
  • Sequence Similarities
  • Belongs to the peptidase C14A family.
  • Cellular Localization
  • Cytoplasm, Nucleus
  • Post Translation Modifications
  • Phosphorylated by NUAK1; phosphorylation inhibits self-activation.
Phosphorylation at Ser-257 by AMP-activated protein kinase (PRKAA1 or PRKAA2) inhibits autocleavage, preventing caspase activation, thereby preventing hepatocyte apoptosis.
Palmitoylation by ZDHHC17 blocks dimerization and subsequent activation, leading to inhibit the cysteine protease activity.
  • Function
  • Cysteine protease that plays essential roles in programmed cell death, axonal degeneration, development and innate immunity. Acts as a non-canonical executioner caspase during apoptosis: localizes in the nucleus and cleaves the nuclear structural protein NUMA1 and lamin A/LMNA thereby inducing nuclear shrinkage and fragmentation. Acts as a regulator of liver damage by promoting hepatocyte apoptosis: in absence of phosphorylation by AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), catalyzes cleavage of BID, leading to cytochrome c release, thereby participating in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.
