Figure 1 Gal/GalNAc lectin-mediated protection is adoptively transferred by T cells, not serum antibodies. Purified Gal/GalNAc lectin-immunized (closed bars) and PBS sham-immunized (open bars) CBA mice were challenged with E. histolytica trophozoites 4 weeks after the final boost.
Splenocytes and mesenteric lymph node cells were isolated from lectin-immunized or PBS sham-immunized mice and enriched for CD3+ T cells. The purity of enriched cells was determined by fluorescence-activated cell sorter staining for CD3 and B220 before and after enrichment.
