SmartAb™ Recombinant Anti-EGF pH-dependent Antibody (Clone 0914)

The anti-EGF pH-dependent antibody (clone 0914) targets human EGF in a pH-dependent manner, with its affinity remaining high at neutral pH but weakening at a lower pH, such as within the acidic environment of endosomes. The anti-EGF acid-switched antibody was engineered by incorporating histidine residues into its variable regions. The introduction of histidine substitutions within its Complementarity-Determining Regions (CDRs) enables pH-responsive antigen binding, which leads to enhanced EGF clearance. The antibody operates in a cyclical manner, binding EGF in the extracellular fluid and releasing it in acidified endosomes. Human EGF, or Epidermal Growth Factor, is a mitogenic protein that stimulates cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation. It binds to its receptor, EGFR, and is a key driver of various cellular processes, including wound healing and tumor growth.
