This antibody binds to IgE in a pH-dependent manner, which enables it to capture extracellular IgE and subsequently release the antigen for degradation following endocytosis. This monoclonal antibody (mAb) can effectively eliminate circulating IgE. Compared to the parental antibody, this variant not only mitigates the problem of total IgE accumulation but also leads to reduced levels of free IgE. Human Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a class of antibody that plays a crucial role in the immune system's response to allergens and parasites. Primarily located in the lungs, skin, and mucous membranes, it binds to mast cells and basophils, triggering the release of inflammatory mediators upon exposure to an allergen.
