The anti-MSTN eliminating antibody is an engineered pH-sensitive antibody against human MSTN. MSTN, part of the TGF-beta family, regulates muscle cell proliferation with mutations leading to increased muscle mass. The antibody has a novel MSTN-sweeping activity in vivo, which selectively eliminatesthe soluble MSTN from plasma. Compared to conventional antibody, the mAb exerted in vivo efficacy by simultaneously engineering both pH-dependent antigen binding, to mimic the pH-dependent receptor-ligand binding of such endocytic receptors, and increased FcRn binding affinity at neutral pH, to mimic the cell-bound form of the receptors.
