SmartAb™ Recombinant Anti-SEB pH-dependent Antibody (Clone 3E2)

This is a pH-dependent antibody that exhibits high-affinity binding at pH 7.4 and rapid dissociation at pH 6.0. A higher mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) at pH 7.4 compared to pH 6.0 indicated stronger binding to SEB at the higher pH. The antibody inhibits SEB's activity by interfering with its interaction with MHC II on antigen-presenting cells. Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin B (SEB) is a potent superantigen produced by the bacterium S. aureus that causes food poisoning and can lead to toxic shock syndrome. It triggers a massive, non-specific activation of T-cells, which leads to an overproduction of cytokines and a severe inflammatory response.
