    This biparatopic antibody (bpAb) binds two distinct epitopes of Tau. Its tandem scFv architecture involves the N-terminal fusion of the MHT2 scFv to the Tau5 scFv. The MHT2 scFv targets the human tau encompassing the threonine 169/175 epitope region, while the Tau5 scFv binds to the region of amino acids 218-225.

They are abunda- nt in neurons of the central nervous system and are less common elsewhere, but are also expressed at very low levels in CNS astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. When tau proteins are defective, and no longer stabilize microtubules properly, they can result in dementias such as Alzheimer's disease.
