Human Anti-MSTN (clone Domagrozumab) scFv-Fc Chimera

CAT#: VS-0325-FY4

GDF-8, also known as myostatin, is a member of the TGF-β superfamily and is primarily expressed in muscle tissues, where it regulates muscle growth and differentiation. Overexpression of GDF-8 is associated with muscle wasting and related disorders. The GDF-8 scFv-Fc is a recombinant protein designed to specifically bind and neutralize GDF-8, thus inhibiting its biological function. This fusion protein consists of a single-chain variable fragment linked to the Fc region of an immunoglobulin, enhancing stability and serum half-life. In research, GDF-8 scFv-Fc can be used to investigate muscle biology and the role of muscle growth factors in various diseases. Therapeutically, it holds promise for treating muscle-wasting diseases like cachexia, muscular dystrophy, and age-related sarcopenia. Additionally, it may be explored for muscle enhancement in conditions requiring muscle regeneration and repair.

Target

  • Alternative Names
  • Myostatin; GDF8; Growth Differentiation Factor 8; Growth/Differentiation Factor 8; MSLHP; GDF-8
  • Long Name
  • Myostatin
  • Sequence Similarities
  • Belongs to the TGF-beta family.
  • Cellular Localization
  • Secreted
  • Post Translation Modifications
  • Synthesized as large precursor molecule that undergoes proteolytic cleavage to generate an N-terminal propeptide and a disulfide linked C-terminal dimer, which is the biologically active molecule.
The circulating form consists of a latent complex of the C-terminal dimer and other proteins, including its propeptide, which maintain the C-terminal dimer in a latent, inactive state.
Ligand activation requires additional cleavage of the prodomain by a tolloid-like metalloproteinase.
    Glycosylation at Asn71
    Modification sites at PhosphoSitePlus
Glycosylation from GlyGen 1 site, 1 N-linked glycan (1 site)
  • Function
  • Acts specifically as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth.
