The Human SIRT1 Quick ELISA Kit (VS-0726-YC2251) is designed for quickly quantify Human SIRT1 with a sensitivity of 132 pg/mL. The kit is based on sandwich ELISA (quantitative) and the total experimental duration is 90 minutes. It is a reliable tool used for the quantitative detection of SIRT1 in Cell extract, Tissue extract and other biological samples. Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) is a nuclear NAD⁺-dependent class III histone deacetylase that removes acetyl groups from target transcription factors (such as p53, NF-kB, PGC-1alpha), homeostatically regulating mitochondrial biogenesis, redox balance, and cell survival checkpoints. SIRT1 activation is a primary therapeutic axis investigated to extend metabolic healthspans and limit senescence.

- Introduction
- This gene encodes a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of the sirtuin family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and grouped into four classes. The functions of human sirtuins have not yet been determined; however, yeast sirtuin proteins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress recombination of rDNA. Studies suggest that the human sirtuins may function as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity. The protein encoded by this gene is included in class I of the sirtuin family. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2008]
