GPRC5D: A Promising Immunotherapy Target
GPRC5D, a member of the G protein-coupled receptor C family, has emerged as a promising immunotherapy target. In the immune system, its expression is largely restricted to plasma cells, with minimal to no expression observed in normal B cells, T cells, natural killer cells, monocytes, granulocytes, and bone marrow progenitor cells. Furthermore, GPRC5D's resistance to bodily hydrolases reduces the potential for post-treatment relapse due to target degradation. These characteristics position GPRC5D-targeted immunotherapies as having significant development potential and broad applicability.
