HA tag

The HA tag, derived from the influenza virus hemagglutinin protein, is a widely used tool in molecular biology. This short peptide sequence (corresponding to amino acids 98-106 of the HA protein) can be easily recognized by specific, commercially available antibodies. Because of this, the HA tag is frequently incorporated into recombinant proteins and expression vectors, enabling researchers to detect, purify, and study the tagged protein. Its small size generally doesn't interfere with the protein's function, making it ideal for applications like examining protein-protein interactions via co-immunoprecipitation or confirming protein expression using Western blotting.
