Mac-2BP protein can be divided into three domains, scavenger receptor-rich amino-terminal Cys (SRCR) domain (Dl), highly glycosylated mucin-like domains (D2) and a carboxy-terminal domain of approximately 27kDa (D3). Studies show that Mac-2BP may be combined with collagen IV, V, VKFN and nestin. Mac-2BP may mediate the adhesion of cells to laminin. Mac-2BP is present in the serum or extracellular matrix which, at high levels of expression in most cancer tissues which may be useful as a tumor marker in blood, as a Mac-2BP protein-specific serum tumor markers have been a large number of clinical data confirm and academia recognized that in malignant lung cancer, ovarian cancer, stomach cancer, colon cancer, bladder cancer, head and neck cancer, brain cancer, leukemia, melanoma and pancreatic cancer and other common specific tumors were increased, and closely associated with tumor malignancy and poor prognosis, is a very useful indicator to predict the development of lung cancer.
