Background
VIM-2, or Class B carbapenemase VIM-2 (Verona Integron-encoded Metallo-beta-lactamase 2), is a highly significant metallo-β-lactamase that confers broad-spectrum resistance to almost all β-lactam antibiotics, including carbapenems.
