The Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) IgG/IgM Detection Kit (CE-conform) (Colloidal Gold Method)
Introduction
The novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) occurred in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China in December of 2019. So far, SARS-CoV-2 has resulted in more and more patients are diagnosed in the world. IgM/IgG combined antibody detection kit for SARS-CoV-2 is an immunochromatography and mainly based on testing IgG/IgM. IgM antibodies are made when people are infected with new pathogens for the first time. When the body senses an invader, the level of IgM will rise and keep for a short time and then drop. However, IgG antibodies will then kick in and increase for long-term protection. Therefore, the presence of IgG/IgM can be a powerful tool to detect whether individuals are infected with SARS-CoV-2.
Principles of Detection Kits (Colloidal Gold Method)
When the test sample is added to the test cassette, the sample will move forward along the test card via capillary action. If IgM or/and IgG present in the sample, IgM or/and IgG will bind to the colloidal gold-labeled novel coronavirus antigen on the test cassette. Then, the antibody/antigen complex will be captured by the anti-human IgM or/and IgG antibody immobilized on the membrane, forming the red M or/and G line and meaning a positive result for the IgM or/and IgG antibody. If neither antibody occurs, the result indicates a negative result. Also, the card contains a quality control line (C). Regardless of what antibodies are present, the C line should appear to show that the sample has been transported properly through the membrane. If this C line does not appear and means that the result is invalid and needs a new, unopened test cassette to retest the sample. The results are shown in Fig.1 below.
