This immunotoxin was achieved by conjugating/fusing the anti-CD80 monoclonal antibody to gelonin. It was expressed in CHO and purified with affinity chromatography. The immunotoxin selectively binds to CD80-expressing cells. Once bind, the toxin enters cells by receptor-mediated endocytosis, then gelonin inhibits protein synthesis by damaging the 60S subunit of mammalian ribosomes. It was designed for treatment of Hodgkin's disease or other CD80-expressing tumours.
