NEDD9

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the CRK-associated substrates family. Members of this family are adhesion docking molecules that mediate protein-protein interactions for signal transduction pathways. This protein is a focal adhesion protein that acts as a scaffold to regulate signaling complexes important in cell attachment, migration and invasion as well as apoptosis and the cell cycle. This protein has also been reported to have a role in cancer metastasis.
Protein class

Plasma proteins

Predicted location

Intracellular

Single cell type specificity

Cell type enhanced (Alveolar cells type 1, Glandular and luminal cells, Adipocytes)

Immune cell specificity

Low immune cell specificity

Cell line specificity

Cell line enhanced (EFO-21, HSkMC)

Interaction

Homodimer. Can heterodimerize with HLH proteins ID2, E12, E47 and also with p130cas. Forms complexes in vivo with related adhesion focal tyrosine kinase (RAFTK), adapter protein CRKL and LYN kinase. Interacts with MICAL and TXNL4/DIM1. Interacts with BCAR3 (via Ras-GEF domain) (By similarity). Interacts with SH2D3C isoform 1 and isoform 2 (By similarity).
