Rabbit Anti-MEF2C Recombinant Antibody (clone R07-6W9) (CAT#: VS3-XY3427)

The recombinant rabbit antibody is specific for MEF2C (Myocyte enhancer factor 2C), which plays an essential role in hippocampal-dependent learning and memory. MEF2C controls cardiac morphogenesis and myogenesis, and is also involved in vascular development. The antibody specifically reacts with human and rat MEF2C. It has been tested using Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin.

  • Post Translation Modifications
  • Proteolytically cleaved in cerebellar granule neurons, probably by caspase 7, following neurotoxicity.
Preferentially cleaves the CDK5-mediated hyperphosphorylated form which leads to neuron apoptosis and transcriptional inactivation.

    Modification sites at PhosphoSitePlus (Q06413)
    Modification sites at neXtProt (NX_Q06413)
    Glycosylation from GlyGen (Q06413) 4 sites, 1 O-linked glycan (4 sites)
  • Function
  • Transcription activator which binds specifically to the MEF2 element present in the regulatory regions of many muscle-specific genes.
Controls cardiac morphogenesis and myogenesis, and is also involved in vascular development.
Enhances transcriptional activation mediated by SOX18.
Plays an essential role in hippocampal-dependent learning and memory by suppressing the number of excitatory synapses and thus regulating basal and evoked synaptic transmission.
