HIV-1 p66

HIV reverse transcriptase is a part of pol gene encoding product, which is very low expressed in infected cells. HIV reverse transcriptase is an isopolymer composed of P66 and P51 with 1:1 subunits. Among them, P51 subunit is the product of P66 subunit C terminal RNase H domain cut by protease. Studies have shown that P66 subunit contains two catalytic domains: polymerase domain and RNase H domain. P51 subunit contains only the polymerase domain, and only plays a supporting role in HIV reverse transcriptase heteropolymer. In addition, HIV P66 subunit protein is also an integral part of HIV diagnostic reagent. A large number of pure subunit proteins of HIV P66 can be obtained in vitro, which can not only further study their in vitro activity, but also provide in vitro target for anti-hiv agent research and provide recombinant antigen for the development of domestic HIV confirmatory diagnostic reagents.
