Background
GLG1 (Golgi Glycoprotein 1), also known as MG160, is a protein located in the Golgi apparatus of cells. It functions as a mannosidase, an enzyme that processes carbohydrate chains on glycoproteins. GLG1 plays a role in the biosynthesis of N-linked glycans, which are essential for protein folding, trafficking, and function. GLG1 is also involved in the organization and maintenance of the Golgi apparatus. Aberrant GLG1 expression has been associated with various diseases, including cancer, suggesting a role in tumor progression.
