The gold streptavidin conjugates also have high stability due to the covalent binding of streptavidin to the surface coating. This product is commonly used as a detector in lateral flow assays. Streptavidin gold conjugate is a durable and stable that coated with streptavidin, allowing for high-affinity binding to biotinylated molecules. The covalent attachment of streptavidin to the surface coat ensures irreversible binding and prevents desorption, even under extreme conditions. This unique feature sets it apart from products where streptavidin is passively adsorbed to the metal.

- Gold streptavidin is shipped in a TBS buffer with 0.1% detergent. To exchange the buffer, centrifuge at 9,000xg for 6 minutes, remove supernatant, and add preferred buffer (avoiding substances with high gold affinity). Absorbance max for 40 nm gold streptavidin is at 530 nm. Measure maximum absorbance with UV-vis spectrophotometer after appropriate dilution (e.g. 10 OD at 1: 10 dilution expected to be around 1 AU at 530 nm for 1 cm light path).
