Creative Biolabs is a leading supplier of research tools for cancer and cell cycle researchers. We are committed to developing and providing the highest quality anti-Aurora Kinase B (AURKB) recombinant antibodies. AURKB is the catalytic subunit of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) that serves as the key regulator of chromosome segregation and cytokinesis. Creative Biolabs' anti-AURKB recombinant antibodies are a critical tool for understanding mitosis and the development of new anti-cancer therapeutics targeting this important kinase family for its role in ensuring genomic stability during cell division.

AURKB: The Guardian of Chromosome Segregation

AURKB, like AURKA, is a serine/threonine kinase. As the catalytic core of the Chromosomal Passenger Complex (CPC), it is a key player in mitosis regulation. The CPC is first found at the centromeres during early mitosis before relocating to the spindle midzone in anaphase. The key function of AURKB is to help microtubules attach correctly to the kinetochore; it is able to sense when microtubules are not attached in the correct manner and destabilize them until the errors are corrected. It also plays an important role in the spindle assembly checkpoint and in the completion of cytokinesis. AURKB is, like AURKA, often overexpressed in cancer and is a key target for the development of anti-mitotic anti-cancer drugs.

Background

This gene encodes a member of the aurora kinase subfamily of serine/threonine kinases. The genes encoding the other two members of this subfamily are located on chromosomes 19 and 20. These kinases participate in the regulation of segregation of chromosomes during mitosis and meiosis through association with microtubules. A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 8. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Interacts with CDCA1, EVI5, JTB, NDC80, PSMA3, SEPTIN1, SIRT2 and TACC1 (PubMed:14602875, PubMed:14674694, PubMed:15064709, PubMed:16179162, PubMed:16764853, PubMed:17726514, PubMed:21225229). Interacts with SPDYC; this interaction may be required for proper localization of active, Thr-232-phosphorylated AURKB form during prometaphase and metaphase (PubMed:20605920). Interacts with p53/TP53 (PubMed:20959462). Interacts (via the middle kinase domain) with NOC2L (via the N- and C-terminus domains) (PubMed:20959462). Interacts with TTC28 (PubMed:23036704). Interacts with RNF2/RING1B (By similarity).

Anti-AURKB rAb Products

Creative Biolabs' anti-AURKB recombinant antibodies have been developed and optimized to target the AURKB enzyme specifically and are carefully validated to not cross-react with AURKA or AURKC. It is important to note the isoform specificity of these antibodies for your research, as this could drastically change the function and target recruitment of the kinase family. Our anti-AURKB rAbs have been optimized for immunofluorescence, allowing for tracking of its dynamic localization, as well as for Western Blot, to give you a clear, reliable readout for your cell cycle studies.

Rabbit Anti-AURKB Recombinant Antibody (clone 4E5)
The anti-AURKB antibody from Creative Biolabs was great for our immunofluorescence studies. It stained beautifully on the centromeres and then later on the midbody as the CPC moves with the chromatids, really making it easy to track this complex during mitosis.

Mouse Anti-AURKB Recombinant Antibody (ZG-0312F)
The isoform specificity of this antibody is excellent. It gave a very clean signal for AURKB in our lysates with no cross-reactivity or background from AURKA, which was crucial for our inhibitor studies.
