Background
Human Mucosal-associated Invariant T (MAIT) Cell: An innate-like T cell abundant in the liver and blood that recognizes vitamin B metabolites presented by the MR1 molecule. Expressing the semi-invariant Vα7.2 TCR, they rapidly secrete cytokines to fight bacterial and fungal infections.
