Creative Biolabs is an expert in neuroscience research and membrane trafficking. Our world-class anti-CDK16 recombinant antibodies will support your research as you study this non-canonical Cyclin-Dependent Kinase. CDK16 (PCTAIRE-1) is known to be important for regulation of membrane trafficking in neurons. Our top-quality anti-CDK16 rAbs have been carefully validated to work optimally in your applications and will be a powerful tool to study its role in synaptic plasticity, neuronal development, and links to psychiatric disease.
CDK16: A Regulator of Neuronal Trafficking
CDK16 (also known as PCTAIRE-1) is a non-canonical CDK that is significantly enriched in the central nervous system. While many of the classical CDKs are primarily involved in regulating the cell cycle, CDK16 does not appear to be as tightly linked to this process. Instead, CDK16 is thought to be involved in regulation of membrane trafficking, particularly vesicle and protein complex movement within neurons. This includes potential effects on synaptic function as well as regulation of protein transport up and down the axon. This highly specific expression pattern in the brain as well as its unique regulation of trafficking make this an attractive target for neurological drug development.
Alternative Names

Background
CDK16 (Cyclin Dependent Kinase 16) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are DNA Damage and Signal transduction_PKA signaling. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include transferase activity, transferring phosphorus-containing groups and protein tyrosine kinase activity. An important paralog of this gene is CDK17.

Low cell type specificity
Low immune cell specificity
Low cell line specificity
Found in a complex containing CABLES1, CDK17 and TDRD7. Interacts with YWHAH, YWHAQ and YWHAZ. Interacts with NSF. Identified in a complex with NSF, syntaxin-1, synaptotagmin, SYN1, SYP and CDK5R1 (By similarity). Interacts with BRSK2. Interacts with CCNY; this increases the CDK16 kinase activity.
