Creative Biolabs is at the forefront of cell signaling, providing premium anti-CDK17 recombinant antibodies. CDK17, a non-canonical Cyclin-Dependent Kinase (PCTAIRE-2), is a regulator of membrane transport and may be implicated in oncogenesis. Our high-quality antibodies are the perfect research tool to study its role in the secretory pathway and in disease.
CDK17: A Kinase in the Secretory Pathway
Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 17 (CDK17, PCTAIRE-2) is a non-classical CDK family member. Like CDK16, it does not regulate the cell cycle, but intracellular trafficking and secretion. CDK17 co-localizes with the Golgi and is thought to phosphorylate proteins involved in vesicular transport and protein processing. It is expressed in a more limited pattern than CDK16 and may have a role in regulating these processes in highly secretory cell types. As with many CDKs, misregulation of CDK17 is being examined as a potential contributor to tumorigenesis.
Alternative Names
CDK17; cyclin-dependent kinase 17; PCTK2; PCTAIRE2; PCTAIRE-motif protein kinase 2; cell division protein kinase 17; protein kinase cdc2-related PCTAIRE-2; serine/threonine-protein kinase PCTAIRE-2;
Background
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the cdc2/cdkx subfamily of the ser/thr family of protein kinases. It has similarity to a rat protein that is thought to play a role in terminally differentiated neurons. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found.
Enzymes, Metabolic proteins
Intracellular
Cell type enhanced (Oligodendrocytes, Excitatory neurons)
Low immune cell specificity
Cell line enhanced (HUVEC TERT2, TIME)
Found in a complex containing CABLES1, CDK16 and TDRD7. Interacts with TDRD7 (By similarity).
