Background
The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) can express constitutively in many EBVassociated tumors, including Hodgkin's disease, B cell lymphoproliferative disease, and a portion of T cell lymphomas and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). LMP1 expression has profound effects on target cells, including B lymphocyte and rodent fibroblast transformation, cell apoptosis inhibition by anti-apoptotic protein upregulation, cell surface marker and DNA methyltransferase activity upregulation, and cell adhesion molecule and cyclin-dependent kinase downregulation.
