Background
Lamin A and lamin C are two of the protein building blocks of the nuclear lamina, a meshwork of intermediate filaments on the inner aspect of the nuclear envelope inner membrane. They are encoded by the lamin A/C gene (LMNA) on chromosome 1q21 and expressed in most differentiated somatic cells.
