Background

PDHA2, or Pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 component subunit alpha, testis-specific form, mitochondrial, is a specific isoform of the alpha subunit of the pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 component. PDHA2 is found predominantly in mitochondria of testicular cells and plays a critical role in catalyzing the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate, linking glycolysis to the citric acid cycle for energy production, particularly in spermatogenesis.
