Background

pip, or Proline iminopeptidase, is an enzyme that specifically cleaves N-terminal proline residues from peptides. This enzyme plays a role in the metabolism of proline-containing peptides, which are often resistant to degradation by other peptidases. Pip is involved in protein turnover, nutrient acquisition, and potentially in the processing of bioactive peptides.
