RAB39B

This gene encodes a member of the Rab family of proteins. Rab proteins are small GTPases that are involved in vesicular trafficking. Mutations in this gene are associated with X-linked mental retardation.
Protein class

Disease related genes, Human disease related genes, Plasma proteins

Predicted location

Intracellular

Single cell type specificity

Cell type enhanced (Bipolar cells, Muller glia cells, Oligodendrocytes, Horizontal cells, Inhibitory neurons)

Immune cell specificity

Low immune cell specificity

Cell line specificity

Cell line enhanced (Daudi, Karpas-707, U-266/70, U-266/84)

Interaction

Interacts (in GTP-bound form) with PICK1 (via PDZ domain); a PICK1 homodimer may allow simultaneous association of RAB39B and GRIA2 to PICK1 which is involved in GRIA2 trafficking. Interacts with isoform c of RASSF1; the interaction is strong (By similarity). Interacts with isoform a of RASSF1; the interaction is weak (By similarity). Interacts with the DLG4/PSD-95 (By similarity).
