Part of transcription regulator complex. Is expressed in several structures, including adult mesothoracic segment; ectoderm; extended germ band embryo; presumptive embryonic/larval system; and somatic precursor cell. Orthologous to human ASCL1 (achaete-scute family bHLH transcription factor 1).
