Background

tyrB, or Aromatic-amino-acid aminotransferase, is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the transamination of aromatic amino acids (tyrosine, phenylalanine, tryptophan) with α-ketoglutarate. TyrB is involved in both the biosynthesis and catabolism of these amino acids, playing a central role in their metabolism.
