SmartAb™ Recombinant Anti-HSA pH-dependent Antibody (Clone AP010/YC)

The anti-HSA pH-dependent antibody (clone AP010/YC) targets human HSA in a pH-dependent manner, with its affinity remaining high at neutral pH but weakening at a lower pH, such as within the acidic environment of endosomes. The anti-HSA acid-switched antibody was engineered by incorporating histidine residues into its variable regions. The introduction of histidine substitutions within its Complementarity-Determining Regions (CDRs) enables pH-responsive antigen binding, which leads to enhanced HSA clearance. The antibody operates in a cyclical manner, binding HSA in the extracellular fluid and releasing it in acidified endosomes. Human HSA, or Human Serum Albumin, is the most abundant protein in human plasma and plays a crucial role in maintaining blood volume and transporting various molecules. It is a major component of the blood and has a long half-life, making it a carrier for therapeutic drugs.
