The anti-MELTF pH-dependent antibody (clone L49) is a pH-responsive antibody engineered to target human Melanotransferrin (MFI2). This pH-switched monoclonal antibody (mAb) was developed by incorporating histidine residues into its variable regions, which results in pH-biased binding to MELTF. By leveraging the natural pH variations in different tissues and cellular compartments, this pH-responsive antibody facilitates precise targeting of MELTF on cells and tissues. Human Melanotransferrin (MFI2) is a GPI-anchored glycoprotein related to the transferrin family. While its precise function is still under investigation, it is expressed on melanoma cells and is a potential therapeutic target for immunotherapy.
