  • This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) protein family. It functions in a manner similar to ubiquitin in that it is bound to target proteins as part of a post-translational modification system. However, unlike ubiquitin which targets proteins for degradation, this protein is involved in a variety of cellular processes, such as nuclear transport, transcriptional regulation, apoptosis, and protein stability.

Captured SUMOylated Proteins
Detecting SUMOylation is always tricky due to its transient nature, but these beads worked wonders. We were able to enrich SUMO1 modified proteins from our cell extracts effectively, making the bands visible in our western blots where they were previously undetectable.

Robust Binding Affinity
The antibody conjugated to these beads has high affinity. Even with stringent washing steps to reduce background, we still retained a significant amount of the SUMOylated targets, which speaks to the quality of the conjugation and the antibody itself.
