Thioredoxin, a small dithiol protein, serves as a specific reductant for major allergenic proteins found in both animal and plant food products. This 12-kilodalton (kDa) oxidoreductase enzyme, encoded by the TXN and TXN2 genes, contains a dithiol-disulfide active site and plays a crucial antioxidant role in neutralizing food allergens and participating in redox signaling. Allergenic proteins with disulfide bonds become inactive when reduced by thioredoxin. The DrugMonitor™ Anti-Thioredoxin Antibody, an ADA against Thioredoxin, is developed in rabbits immunized with Thioredoxin. Suitable for ELISA, PK, and PD analyses, it serves as a reference standard in ADA assays and is an effective tool for drug monitoring, allowing for the determination of Thioredoxin levels and the assessment of its efficacy.
