Background
Macrophages are remarkably plastic immune cells that adapt their phenotype and function in response to diverse microenvironmental cues. Within the context of cancer, these cells often infiltrate tumors and differentiate into Tumor-Associated Macrophages (TAMs), which are major players in shaping the tumor microenvironment (TME) and influencing disease progression. Traditionally, TAMs are broadly categorized into two main functional subtypes, M1 and M2, representing opposite ends of a polarization spectrum, though it's increasingly recognized that macrophages exhibit a more complex continuum of activation states in vivo
