Background

The TSPAN1 gene, a member of the tetraspanins family, encodes a protein with 241 amino acids. Previous studies showed was a gene associated with tumors. Early studies of the TSPAN1 protein have revealed its overexpression is linked to a number of cancers, including liver, stomach and prostate. However, the function of TSPAN1 in colorectal cancer is not yet clear.
