Creative Biolabs is a frontrunner in the expanding field of mitochondrial biology, and we are pleased to present our premium line of anti-UQCRB recombinant antibodies. UQCRB is a small, low molecular weight, nuclear-encoded subunit of Complex III (cytochrome bc1 complex), and plays an important role in the structural assembly and function of the electron transport chain. Our top-quality antibodies will serve as an essential tool to study mitochondrial disease and evaluate the integrity of the respiratory supercomplexes.

UQCRB: A Small But Essential Complex III Subunit

Ubiquinol-Cytochrome c Reductase Binding Protein (UQCRB) is a small, nuclear-encoded Complex III subunit that serves as an anchor for the assembly of the respiratory chain by recruiting and stabilizing other subunits. UQCRB is also commonly referred to as the β subunit as it is located near the Q-cycle reaction center. Inappropriate assembly of UQCRB is associated with broad defects in mitochondrial function. The downstream manifestations of mitochondrial dysfunction can vary broadly, presenting in the form of many different metabolic and neurological disorders, a result of the systemic energy deficiency.

Background

This gene encodes a subunit of the ubiquinol-cytochrome c oxidoreductase complex, which consists of one mitochondrial-encoded and 10 nuclear-encoded subunits. The protein encoded by this gene binds ubiquinone and participates in the transfer of electrons when ubiquinone is bound. This protein plays an important role in hypoxia-induced angiogenesis through mitochondrial reactive oxygen species-mediated signaling. Mutations in this gene are associated with mitochondrial complex III deficiency. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 1, 5 and X.

Anti-UQCRB rAb Products

Our anti-UQCRB recombinant antibodies are generated with precision and optimized to give high performance and specificity. Each lot is carefully validated and shown to reliably detect UQCRB protein in mitochondrial fractions. These antibodies are optimized for use in Western Blot, where it is used to evaluate the integrity of supercomplex assembly, as well as IHC.
