This monoclonal antibody specific for Pseudomonas aeruginosa–encoded PcrV can be potentiall used in the treatment of an acute lung infection caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Seven MAbs were tested in a mouse model of Pseudomonas aeruginosa–induced pneumonia. Two micrograms of IgG was mixed with a bacterial inoculum consisting of P. aeruginosa strain PA103 (2.5×10⁶ cfu, 5-fold lethal dose). The mixture was instilled into the mice's lungs during a short period of anesthesia, after which the mice recovered and moved freely in their cages (n=5 mice per group).
