This product is a tetramer of biotinylated peptide/MHC complex with streptavidin mainly composed of LCMV-derived peptide of AVYNFATCGI sequence covering 34-43 and H-2Kb molecule. The pMHC tetramer recognizes mouse CD8 T cells, and can be used in the analysis of individual antigen-specific T cells.

Its causative agent is the lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV), a member of the family Arenaviridae. The name was coined by Charles Armstrong in 1934.
